Back in issue #61, Rick is sitting on the truck, keeping watch. He picks up the phone that allows him to "speak" with his dead wife. When he picks it up, she says that they, "Need to speak about Carl".
I always wondered why she said that, seeing as all of this is Rick's imagination. Carl hadn't killed Ben yet, so Rick doesn't know anything about that. The only answer I can come up with is that Rick is bothered by what Carl said after they killed those three rapists on the bridge.
Any ideas? | |

Rick secretly suspected Carl of having killed Ben? O r just that he needed to talk to him about the bad things good people have to do sometimes? Just some guesses.

Yeah, I think that's the only plausible answer. Seeing as how nothing Carl did before that would make Rick suspect that anything was wrong with his child. Unless he thought what Carl had seen already, like his mother and baby sister being blown in half, would have any effect on his mental state.
