Hear me out... Chandler Riggs is listed on IMDB as being born in 99, which makes him 11. Carl in the books is around 8/9. Considering that Carl is still very young in the comic and the protective father/son dynamic is still ongoing, I'm concerned that this story line is going to hit a brick wall in the TV series when Carl looks too old. Basically, this will inevitably lead to a "Walt/LOST" situation, where he'll hit a growth spurt at 13 and spring up 3 feet and grow a mustache during the 3rd season. They couldn't even use Walt in the finale of that show because he didnt' look anything like he did in the first 2 seasons. It was an entire storyline thrown out the window. It's not like they can keep recasting Carl every year as he inevitably grows. Considering this is such a huge part of the books, I'm wondering why they didn't cast younger to avert a forthcoming casting disaster. Thoughts?

I bet they did not even think of that, or they did and they will start to feed him experimental hormones that stunt his growth until the show falls of the air, or maybe carl dies soon?

@Freshkimo I hear what you're saying and it could become a problem, but in the beginning of the book Carl was 7 years old. Trying to find a 7 year old or thereabouts that can actually act well would be a hard thing to do.

I can assure you both Carl and Sophia are very small for 11 and I bet you'll get 2-3 yrs easy from both
Assuming a show goes that long is very pre-sumptious(sp)

I always thought carl seemed older then he was suppose to be. I think One of the reasons they made him older is because he has a gun and society would flip out about an 8 yr old packin heat.

I agree with Eric, not only that but imagine subjecting a 7-9 year old actor to the kind of horror they're going to see every day on set? There's child labor/abuse laws to think about too. If the adult actors are being affected by the gore and nastiness, how much worse would it be on a child? just my two cents

Wait until they have him do the scene with Abe and Rick with those guys from diliverence. Talk about abuse

dammit *lol* well I think I'll have to anyway 'cause I found out today that Lori doesn't die until what, #48 or #49? which is good. Very good. *lol* I may, in fact, be addicted enough by that point to buy book 5 too. I really, really loved that Google Maps thing

Just a heads up is all. Or they get decapitated with a sword. That one was pretty cool though. If you want to know who?s dead or alive, click on the Character List and Map link. You will be spoiled though. Oh, or Kirkman has someone close to shoot you under the chin and through your skull after you?ve had your throat ripped out. That one was gruesome and happened early on.

ouch. noted haha. See, when the writers for Prison Break did that to the character Sara Tancredi, the fans revolted and we made so much noise they had to write her back in. I highly doubt Kirkman would go for THAT, I'm afraid, so I'd rather be spoiled and know ahead of time than get pissed later on ^_^ thanks for the heads up

Well Lori does make reapperances later on. . .kind of the reason why Rick is in the "place" he's in right now.
Yeah back during #42-48 the tagline was "No One Is Safe" and we found out how true that was. It was a massacre. . .I think it was the only time I let myself get behind in the monthly's. I was emotionally spent that I took two months off, then jumped right back in.
